May always brings flowers and this year we added daffodils to the surrounds of the shop.

By Colorama weekend I think the iris will be in full bloom. You won't want to miss it!

Quilts donated for a cause. This past weekend in California at Monterey Bay Academy's Alumni Weekend, a tribute was paid to my father, due to his passing last August, during the Oceanaires reunion concert. He traveled with this group for years, not only as the bus driver on occassion, but always as the sound guy. The first quilt below I put together as a Tribute to RB (78" x 105") with the Row by Row Experience(tm) designs from 2018. He loved 'space' and taught physics, combining that with the musical theme, my love of hearts and quilting these blocks were curated to celebrate him. I've donated the quilt along with the other two shown here. (a result from My Happy Place RAL last year that my mom put together with my designed row and a t-shirt quilt made years ago of shirts from the same institution that represent my parent's experiences there). These are hoping to be a spark for a fundraising campaign to resurface the roadways at the 379 acre school campus. I'm working on another quilt that would also be on theme that kits will be available for shortly. Maybe you will create your own happy place quilt!
Music Tribute to RB

- Show & Share - Monday May 13, 412 Federal Ave, Grand Coulee --come at 9am and bring your latest finish or WIP. Stay and sew if you'd like until ~ 4pm.

- Class ---Jelly Roll Rug or Placemat -- A second class will be hosted in the evening. Let me know if you are interested. It will have pre-work, a short first session with homework; and a longer 2nd session to finish. The date has not yet been set, so let me know if you're interested.

- New Products have arrived! Including this laminated cotton. I'm working on a raincoat, but it could also be used for aprons.

- More Aurifil curated thread kits have arrived as well as 80wt thread --perfect for needle turn applique and english paper piecing projects.

- A new search feature has been turned on in the on-line shop, so please check it out and let me know if it is easier to navigate or if there are categories that would help you find what you're looking for.

- May 9 -12 - Colorama Weekend. The biggest and longest running annual festival here in town. If you're near the shop on May 11 during the Parade, check for a coupon on the door. KISSed Quilts contributed to the Prizes for the Button Raffle so be sure to purchase a $3 button before the drawing on May 11! I'll be open on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, so please stop by!

- May 18 - Coffee and Cars (3rd Sat. May - October) is a new event that will be hosted next door to the shop. Although I am always closed on Saturday's ...if you come out for the event, be sure to check the door for a coupon. Details of the event are shared in a recent newspaper article.

- May 25 10pm - Laser Light show on the face of the dam resumes for the summer! Free tours during daylight hours have already resumed for the season. Check out the Visitor Center's website for details.

I'm generally home this month, looking forward to getting lots done and seeing you here in the shop. I'm gearing up for Row by Row Experience this summer and completing several market quilts for Fall Market. Sneek peeks are available when you come by the shop!

Still best to make an appointment if you would like to drop off a quilt or pick up resources to make your next quilt or sewing project. Thank you for considering options locally...I can't stock everything but have made an effort to have available commonly needed fabrics, notions, tools and have new inspiration with a variety of books and patterns. I am happy to order on your behalf when possible and will help you find something regionally if that makes the best sense.

JELLY ROLL RUG/PLACEMAT - We had a great start at our day-time class and have now added a second class that will be held during a couple of evenings. If this timeframe works better for you, please let me know. Date TBD.

OTHER CLASS OPTIONS TO CONSIDER FOR 2019 -- seasonal table runner; bag; patterns from Barbara Persing, Elizabeth Hartman, Violet Craft (english paper piecing--all by hand or foundation paper piecing), Sew Kind of Wonderful (new book with lots of seasonal wallhangings and curved ruler), Turning Twenty and Strip Therapy. Many options to choose in the shop from these last 6 designers. Make an appointment to come check them out and help me plan a schedule for classes. Check the 'patterns' category on the website for just some of the possibilities --come in for the rest!

If there are any particular techniques or projects that you'd like to have as a class, gather your friends who are interested and we'll schedule a class for this winter/spring that works for you. Costs will be determined based on number of students and time needed for the project.
